Creating your LPA

There are two types of LPA, you can choose to make one or both types according to your needs.
Health and welfare LPA
A health and welfare LPA is used when you want to appoint an attorney to make decisions on your behalf about activities relating to your health and welfare such as: medical care, moving into a care home, life-sustaining treatment or your daily routine including eating, washing and dressing. This type of LPA can only be used when you are unable to make your own decisions.
Property and financial affairs LPA
A property and financial affairs LPA is used to give your appointed attorney the power to make decisions on your behalf about property and financial activity. This type of LPA covers decisions relating to managing bank accounts, paying bills, selling your home and collecting benefits. The property and financial affairs LPA can be used with your permission as soon as it has been registered.
How it works
Once you’ve booked your appointment, our experts will get in touch with you by phone or visit your home. We'll discuss your requirements and wishes, and ensure all your details are correct. Once our legal experts have created and checked your documents you just need to sign them before registration. LPAs must be registered with the Office of the Public Guardian for a fee of £82.
